Setting a new chief of police to strengthen campus security

The Southside Virginia Community College announces the appointment of Alefunzo Uzzle as the new chief of police, which is effective on January 10th.

With a strong background in law enforcement and commitment to public security, Uzzle leads the efforts to improve security measures and to secure a secure environment for all students, faculties and employees.

Uzzle offers over 30 years of experience in law enforcement agencies and security, including service in the United States Navy, most recently as a police officer at the College of William and Mary. In this role, he successfully conducted security initiatives, improved protocols to the emergency reaction and strengthened the relationships between the community to the community. Uzzle has a conclusion in criminal judiciary at Ashworth College.

As chief of police, Uzzle will monitor campus security operations, emergency provision and the strategies for crime prevention.

The appointment underlines SVCC's commitment to maintain a safe learning and work environment for everyone.
