Australian GP results Record ratings for ESPN – Field Level Media – Professional sports solutions

The Australian Grand Prix was observed by more than 1.1 million viewers on ESPN, which according to Network set a record for Formula 1's opening event.

It defeated the previous brand of 659,000 spectators in 2019 and rose by 541,000 compared to last year's race to ESPN2. The 2025 race, which started at midnight on Sunday ET, also achieved 560,000 spectators in the coveted 18-49-year-old population group.

The record viewers for the Australian GP are in the midst of reports that ESPN will not follow the US circular rights to F1 as soon as the network's media business has expired after this season. However, the F1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali said that Liberty Media's yield will continue the discussions last month despite the exclusive negotiation period of ESPN.

ESPN has broadcast F1 races since 2018 and has a three-year extension last year, in which the network pays around $ 90 million per season for media rights.

According to Front Office Sports, NBC Sports and Netflix are a potential replacement last month.

NBC Sports was broadcast from 2012 to 2017, while Netflix contributed to strengthening the popularity of F1 in the USA through its “Drive to Survive” docuseries, which recently released its seventh season.

The second race of the 2025 season is Sunday, with the Chinese Grand Prix begins at 2:55 a.m. ET on ESPN. The F1 season includes United States Stops in Miami (May 4), Austin, Texas (October 19) and Las Vegas (November 22).
