Paterson officers dissolved from criminal charges at Najee Seabrooks Shooting

After hours of negotiations, Seabrooks put a fire in the bathroom, threw objects against officers and refused to drop his weapons, the investigators said. Less than fatal measures were used, but could not subdue it. Around 12:35 p.m. he appeared with a knife from the bathroom and immersed in civil servants, causing Tsay and Hernandez to the fire. Seabrooks was transported to the regional medical center of Saint Joseph, where it was declared dead at 12:51 p.m.

The death of Seabrooks led to significant changes to Paterson's law enforcement guidelines, including nationwide revisions of the crisis reaction and the use of Force protocols.
