Detroit's passion for hockey for women's hockey shines with a new presence record in 2025

Detroit has once again shown why it is one of the best hockey cities in America by recapturing his own title and putting up a new US attendance record for women's professional hockey.

On March 16, 2025, a lot of 14,288 Little Caesars Arena packed to see how the Minnesota Frost campaigned against the New York sirens. Which officially surpasses the previous record of 14.018 in Denver, Colorado two months ago. The best thing about it? Detroit was taken away before the previous record before.

Did you know that Michigan is also famous for these other 25 things? ⬇️

This is not the first time that Detroit wrote history in women's hockey. In 2024, the city set a record with 13,736 fans, which proves that there is a big appetite for sport here. Since the PWHL currently consists of six teams and wants to expand, Detroit is strong for why it deserves its own team.

Fans who showed for the record night were spoiled with an exciting game, with the New York sirens defeated the Minnesota Frost with 4: 1.

But more than that, the turnout has sent a clear message: Detroit is ready to fully hug the hockey for women. So why don't we have a team yet? It seems that there are rumors that it could happen at some point.

And as a Piston's fan, I can (with pain) point out that most of your games are not exactly packed these days. So how can you say that there is no audience in the city that wants to enable this hockey franchise?

With every record game that is held by other teams at the LCA, Detroit continues to build up his case as a perfect home for a PWHL expansion team. If this type of support stays up to date, it is only a matter of time before the professional women's hockey becomes a permanent part of the city's already legendary sports scene.
