Since the NCAA men's basketball tournament was expanded to 64 teams in 1985, four teams have taken a perfect record on March Madness. We are not here to talk about them. We are here for your antithes: the teams with the worst records to create a NCAA tournament.

Here is every team that is concerned with the tournament with a loss or a record of 0.500

Twenty teams ended the regular season with a loss of record and still secured an offer for the tournament. Seven others are 500 danced with a straight. All up to one received a No. 16 seed. Nobody made it over the first round and lost with an average scope of 25 points.

The absolutely worst record is a three-way draw with 11-18 (37.93 percent). This would be FIU in 1995, 1996 UCF and 1997 Fairfield.

Two of them – FIU and UCF – came from the Atlantic Sun Conference. In 1995 the Panthers went 6: 12 in the regular conference of season, before winning three in a row to take over the conference crown. UCF was 6-10 before winning the conference title.

Fairfield was even more impressive in 1997 and provided a 2-12 record in the Maac for the last place through two games. In the first round of the conference tournament, StAGS No. 1 Saatgut (22-8, 11-3 MAAC) shocked and struck No. 2 Canisius (17-12, 10-4 MAAC) to win the title and to secure the automatic offer. They were rewarded with a matchup in the first round against No. 1 Saatgut UNC, which they lost 82-74.

The worst record for a team that has won a NCAA tournament (starting with the first round) since 1985 belonged to Villanova in 1991. The wildcats compete with 16: 14 after he lost to Seton Hall in the Big East tournament semi-final. But they have five victories against ranking teams in the season, including three top 10 opponents. That was enough to land a seed No. 9 after they had received a big bid. They took Princeton, 50-48, but lost in the second round against No. 1 seed UNC 84-69.

It is not surprising that Villanova 1985 – The Ultimate Cinderella – has the award of the worst record among championship teams. After the Wildcats had won eight in direct start, they lost six of their last 11th on the selection Sunday at 19-10 (65.5 percent) and were found as No. 8.

Then they won six games in a row – with a close lead of five points per game – on the way to hit the Goliath in Patrick Ewing and No. 1 Georgetown. The Villanova team remains the lowest team that has ever won the title.

Is a below -average profit share recommended in March? Not exactly. But it is also not a guaranteed exit. If at all, it is the first ingredient in the recipe for a large Cinderella story.
