Several companies are concerned about their customers, day care closed their doors due to the continuing crime in the Penn Station shopping center.

District Heights, Md. – Consideration in District Heights, a shopping center, were injured after a man at a shootout at the weekend.

The incident occurred on Sunday in the Penn Station shopping center in the 5700 block of the Silver Hill Road, where shots echoed throughout the area.

Neighbors and business owners were increasingly concerned about the ongoing crime and security problems in the shopping center. And Sunday was not the first time that the center made crime headings. Wusa9 has been concerned with the concerns since last spring, and now new measures are being taken to tackle the situation.

Another surveillance camera has been installed in the parking lot of the shopping center since the first reports. However, many companies in the area that heard the shots on weekends still have to speak publicly about their concerns. Nevertheless, the consensus remains clear: something has to be done to improve security.

Barbra Legget, a frequent buyer in the center, shared the same growing discomfort of many in the community.

“We buy here, so it's a problem,” said Legget. “It's a shoot … often people are robbed here, so we have to do something about it.”

The Penn Station shopping center has been struggling with crime for some time, and several business owners and employees have caused concerns about the security of the region. Carl Jackson, who works nearby, pointed out the risk of endangering members of the community.

“It is our concern about our customers.

The managing director Leon Davis was also frustrated about the disruptive behavior in the center, especially on weekends.

“The teenagers and the cars and the noise at the weekend, it was kind of hectic,” said Davis.

The shootings have intensified the demands for better security in and around the shopping center. Legget is committed to more security measures in both shops and in the area together with other residents.

“More security in the shops and in the area.

City councilor Krystal Oriadha, who represents the area in District 7, recognized the concerns and said she was working with local companies and law enforcement authorities to find a solution. She also mentioned that she took a community walk in this special shopping center because they are worried that they were drawn to. She explained that the shopping center was divided between two real estate owners, with only one covering the security costs. As a result, regular patrols lack one side of the center.

“One side is patrolled and one side is not,” said Oriadha. “We try to find out whether we can have standards in the entire district when it comes to having security on site and what should trigger a facility to authorize the security on site.”

Oriadha emphasized that she decides to work with the owners and the law enforcement authorities in order to clear out the growing security concerns.

For many, the lack of visible security is sufficient so that they avoid the area after dark. Legget, who visits the shopping center, said it now avoids it after the sun is subordinate to security reasons.

“We don't see any security, so I myself, I try not to be here after dark,” said Legget.

Since the investigation is continued and the municipality require measures, the police and local guides are under pressure to implement long -term solutions in order to restore peace and security to the shopping center.
