The Concordia College begins the flags soccer team of the women's flag

Moorhead, Minn. (Valley News Live) -Concordia College will begin its first football season for women flags this spring as part of an initiative listed by the Minnesota Vikings. The team kept the first training session today, March 18.

On March 3, the Vikings announced in cooperation with at least six NCAA institutions, including Concordia, the start of a College -Frauen -Flag football league.

“I am more fascinated and excited to see what happens and what it brings.” I am very proud to be part of an institution that wants to increase women's sport in this way, “said head coach Bre Nelson.” It is just a really creative way to get involved in a sport that you may not be able to try.

With the support of the NFL, the Vikings offer 140,000 US dollars of funds to support the league and support of the participating schools.

Concordia will compete in a series of Jamborees in April before he culminates in a championship tournament on April 26 at the Twin Cities Orthopaedic Performance Center. The facility in Eagan, Minnesota, serves at the headquarters of the Vikings and the home of the training camp.

“To have this opportunity and more appreciation for women and playing football, and I'm just looking forward to seeing what it looks like and have the chance to be there,” said Larsen. “I love seeing the Vikings during the season.

The sports director of Concordia, Rachel Bergeson, worked closely with the Vikings to bring this opportunity to campus.

“We are proud to be part of this initiative that promotes women's sports,” said Bergeson. “This is about more than competition, it's about breaking barriers.

The other participating schools are currently the Augustana University (SD), Gustavus Adolphus College, Bethel University, the University of Northwestern, St. Paul and the University of Wisconsin, Stout.
