Trump publishes thousands of files for the JFK -Anttenat – DW – 19.03.2025

The Trump administration published thousands of previously classified documents in connection with the murder of former President John F. Kennedy on Tuesday.

This is followed by an executive order issued by President Donald Trump, shortly after he had guided the office and directed the publication of non -edited government files via Kennedy's killing.

Kennedy was shot in November 1963 during a visit to Dallas, Texas, but conspiracy theories were still swirling for his death.

On Tuesday evening, more than 1,100 files with more than 31,000 pages were published on the National Archives website.

Trump estimates that more than 80,000 new sides are not sealed.

In recent decades, the authorities have already published ten thousands of documents.

“A lot of work for a long time”

Several JFK experts said they had teams that are already combing the new material and it would take some time to assess the flood of files.

“We have a long time to do, and people just have to accept that,” said Larry J. Sabato, director of the University of Virginia Center for Politics and author of “The Kennedy Half Century”, told the AP news agency.

Kennedy's murder became a sole shooter, Lee Harvey Oswald, a former navy who succeeded in the Soviet Union before returning to Texas.

However, surveys show that many Americans still believe that his death is a result of a conspiracy.
