“Best day of the year in Palisades (for me).” – Cody Townsend, 18.03.25

I think Cody is right.

It was the best day of the year in Palisades for me so far.

The day started cold, windy and snow -covered.

KT-22 immediately drove from the bat, but they were still able to hit the ground and feel moguls in places.

I drove and took it easily and enjoyed the lack of lines and friends in the first 2 hours.

At 11 a.m. we went hungry for bottomless powder.

Siberia opened first and it was really bottomless, but you couldn't see anything …

Which was a shame because the Kangaroo kicker was back in action and looked great.

Craddock hit it blindly and made a beautiful back flip.

Children…

Suddenly Gold Coast opened around noon and that was the gateway to the granite chief.

Granite was open when I arrived and I went straight to the legendary “Triple Goat” line after watching the local legend Andrew Hays Backlap Glory Rock directly under the chair.

All 3 airs were great, but goat 2 (Rainbow Rock/Lower Divingboard) did not have the steep landing on the Crosscourt air that I am used to.

With my 46.76-year-old body I hardly absorbed it.

I came to the third goat and was happy to go to the chair.

My second round was on the spine of the corkscrew and it was good, but I hesitated in the middle.

In my third round I just drove Pow and hopped towards Broken.

I looked at V-Rock, but the snow was firm, so I drove to Happy Powder to Headwall.

Headwall was good.

I went for “Broken Back Rock” and it was big and like hell.

I beat my noggin between my knees, but I pulled it off.

I came back and hit Cii “Pyramid Rock” before I realized that I was completely out of Gnar sauce.

I went to KT-22 with a slide 75 and it confirmed that I was too tired to ski more and went home.

It was 2:30 p.m.

A really wonderful powder day in Palisades.

The sweet spot was until 2 a.m., when the light was good, the sun occasionally came out and the lever lines were briefly up.

The storm rolled back around 2 p.m. and started snowing hard again and creating a whiteout again.

What a day!

Thanks, California!
