A man is dead and a woman is injured after a fire was torn through a home house in Kensington, Maryland on Friday afternoon.

Montgomery County Fire and Ems reacted to a house in the area of ​​Aurora Drive and Stillwater Avenue, according to the public information officer of the department, Pete Piringer.

A woman had managed to flee the house, said Piringer, told the firefighters, but said that another person was still inside.

“This person was found unconsciously by firefighters a few minutes later,” said Piringer.

First aiders were able to remove the man out of the house, but he later died of his injuries.

Several pets were saved from the fire.

It is believed that the cause of the fire is accidental. There were no functioning smoke detectors in the house, officials said.
