1 injured when shooting near the North Grand Mall in Ames

The police say that a 19-year-old man was shot near the 24th Street and Inis Grove Park around 1:15 a.m. on Thursday. The man was taken to the Mary Greeley Medical Center and is in stable condition, the police say.

The man told the official that he was robbed and shot by two men in the 2500 block of the Jensen Avenue, east of the North Grand Mall. According to the police, the suspects fled the scene in a dark four -door car.

The investigators say that the suspects were described as a heavy, short white man and great black man. They believe that it was a targeted crime and there is no indication of a persistent threat to the public.
