1 Officer Dead, 5 further injuries to shoot in the UPMC Memorial in York County, Pennsylvania: Criminal Secision

An officer was killed and at least five more were shot in a hospital in York County, Pennsylvania, in a hospital in York County, Pennsylvania on Saturday.

The suspicious, diogenes Archangel Ortiz, entered the Upmc monument in West Manchester Township with a semi-automatic pistol and a cable baking at 10:30 a.m. Then he went to the intensive one.

“This is an enormous defeat for our community,” said Tim Barker, district prosecutor of York County, at a press conference on Saturday. “Officer Duarte protected his life to protect others.”

Ortiz shot a hospital doctor, a nurse and a custodian bank, who are now all stable, said officials. During the incident, three police officers were shot and one died.

The police officer of the West York Borough, Andrew Duarte, was killed in the shootings, the district confirmed. The other two officials were hospitalized in stable condition.

The law enforcement authorities of several agencies, including the police in West York, the police from Pennsylvania and the Quick Response Team from York County, reacted to the situation. The officials tried to negotiate with Ortiz, but he stood out from the intensive care unit in which a hospital staff with a gun held, their hands were bound by zippers.

“The officers had no recourse,” said Barker. “They opened the fire, killed Ortiz and prevented a further loss of life.”

“After checking surveillance material and testimonies, it is absolutely clear and undoubtedly that the officials acted lawfully in the application of deadly violence,” he said. “To be honest, they needed because they may have saved even more life.”

UPMC said no patients were injured.

The police say that Ortiz could have been motivated by the care that was made available to a terminally ill relative.

A high -ranking law enforcement officer tells ABC News that the shooter has difficulty accepting that his family member was terminally ill and was upset about a perceived lack of care.

This family member died last week.
