1 woman killed, 1 critically in the high-rise apartment building fire on the Upper West Side of Manhattan

Upper West Side, Manhattan (WABC) – 1 woman was killed and injured early Thursday morning with a fire on the Upper West Side.

The fire broke out in an apartment on the 14th floor of the high -rise in the 73rd street between Amsterdam and Columbus Avenue around 3:13 a.m.

Twenty units, including 78 firefighters and EMS employees, reacted to the scene.

The fire was brought under control shortly after 4 a.m.

A 41-year-old woman who is assumed that she worked as a budgetary in the apartment died in Mount Sinai West Hospital.

A 77-year-old woman was rushed into the New York Presbyterian Hospital Cornell Burn Unit in a critical condition.

They were both found in the bathroom and may protect against the flames.

They had both burns and smoke inhalation.

The cause of the fire may be electrical, but the FDNY examined.
