The police said that a basketball game was played on the basketball fields when shots were fired.

The police asked people to avoid the area and enable emergency staff.

“Our main effects here are to ensure that the community feels safe and that there are no more cases of violence,” said Chad McFarlane, police captain of Anne Arundel. “Our message to the community is that Anne Arundel County is a safe place to live. We are here to ensure that we work with you and make sure you feel safe.”

Murders in Anne Arundel County

According to William Lowry, the deputy chief of police William Lowry, the police of Anne Arundel County examined three murders in 2025.

In 2024 the department reacted to 10 murders.

“Although I have been a police officer for over 50 years when they appear to such scenes, they are one of the first people they see, children who cry. This has an impact on the first answering officers,” said Lowry. “We understand as well as possible the trauma that the family members go through, children who try to live in a peaceful community and they hear shots and see how fire and police react. It is very traumatic for the community.”
