2 people, 2 pets dead after alleged gas leaks in the house in Monroe County

City of Oakdale, Wis. (Weau) – Two people are dead after a suspected gas leak in the city of Oakdale.

According to a press release from the Sheriff office of the Monroe County, on February 23, 2025, the authorities received a report on the possibility of several deaths and a gas leak at an address on the hobby road.

The press release says that the caller reported that they found a girl in the house who no longer reacted and found the strong smell of gas. They were able to remove a girl from the house, but life -saving measures were unsuccessful and she was declared dead at the scene.

According to the press release, the emergency teams arrived and switched off the gas to the house. A man was found dead in the house, as well as a dog and a cat.

The incident is examined, but the investigators determined the source of the gas and there is currently no information in which a foul was involved.
