International Women's Day (8th March) is a day on which the success of women celebrated and the equality of women can be accelerated by barriers that continue to immortalize gender inequality. On this occasion, the delegation of the European Union in the Republic of Korea will organize “perspectives on women in safety and defense”, in which the success and challenges of women in the Republic of Korea and Europe are discussing. As a result of the EU-ROK security and defense partnership signed in November 2024, the EU delegation recognizes the importance of women for security and defense as a fundamental prerequisite in order to determine really integrative and secure companies. Therefore, the event is intended to provide a platform to discuss concrete measures for inclusion, cultivation and promotion of women's management in all aspects of the security and defense community. According to the EU's commitment, this acts to advance the UN Security Council for women, peace and security (WPS) at the center of its common security and defense policy.

The EU delegation will invite women's spokesman to safety and defense in order to raise the Korean public for the same participation of women in all processes of conflict prevention, peace formation, peace structure and rehabilitation after the conflict on awareness. The event will also be aimed at derive guidelines that can be implemented with the inclusion of gender equality and human rights perspectives in order to unlock the potential of women in this sector and to contribute as cornerstones when achieving long -lasting peace and prosperity.
