2025 NCAA D3 championships: Johnson & Wales takes advantage of the lead after day 1

The NCAA Division III team race is set up for a fantastic finish.

Johnson & Wales – in the last game on Friday – got to the top of the team leader plate, but there are a variety of schools that are hot on the wildcats.

The two-time NCAA champion Joziah Fry (125) and Hayden Brown (149) collected bonus points in the quarter-finals, and two other wildcats secured all-America ceremonies when Johnson & Wales ended the day with 49.5 points. Wartburg is second with 48.5, followed by Augsburg (46), UW-La Crosse (43), North Central (42) and Baldwin Wallace (40.5).

Ithaca won the National Championship in 1994, but since then it has been two team tractors for the title, whereby Wartburg and Augsburg control the D3 landscape.

Wartburg kept himself in the title dispute on Friday by performing three wrestlers to the semi -finals – Kyler Romero (149), Massoma End (197) and Mitch Williamson (285) – and two more in the consolation.

Augsburg has four semi -finalists – Matt Randolph (149), Cooper Willis (165), Seth Goetzinger (174) and Brandt Bombard (184) – and another auggie on the back.
