3 companies that were called to combat Wrightstown brushfire

Wrightstown Township, PA – Firefighters from three companies reacted to a brush fire in the 700 block of the Worthington Mill Road on Monday morning.

Motor 85 and Field and UTV 35 from the Lingohock Fire Company came to find a hectares of a hectare of a brush fire, and added Newtown Fire Rescue 45 and Northampton Township Fire Department Tanker 3 to call.

The crews quickly deleted the fire.

“This was a very large property with many structures on the property,” said deputy boss Dave James. “Fortunately, the fire started in the broadest part of the property outside the buildings and did not come close to the structures. We were able to cut it off in good time,” he said.

At the weekend, the National Weather Service issued a weather warning for an increased risk of brush fires due to dry and windy conditions. The conditions extended with lighter winds until Monday, but a continuation of the dry conditions.

“We don't have a ban on combustion, but with the low humidity and the strong winds and the dry as it is as it is the perfect conditions for brush fire,” said James. “We ask the residents, please do not burn and make sure that cigarettes are careful.”
