4 observations, 4 questions about 4 Gator Spring -Football Practices

Gainesville-and March Madness can have two connotations: the impending striving for a national title of the Gator basketball team and the collective fear of orange-blue demography about DJ Lagway's shoulder.

More than a quarter of Florida's 15 permissible spring practices are in the books, and by this time Lagway has still not been seen when he threw a forward pass. While coach Billy Napier tried to minimize the fans' unrest over the shoulder of his second quarterback with an optimistic tone, he remained vague about the details of the injury and recognized at the beginning of the spring exercises that the second opinions were obtained.

This means that speculation probably continues to percolate as springsegues by summer.

Here are some questions that we are still to Lagway and others – along with some observations that we have made after four full practices.

The rookie recipients already look the part.

Ok, you are just four practices in your college career, but in a small sample size, the national harvest of the high school signalers of the Gator's approved by Dallas Wilson, Vernell Brown III and Naeshaun Montgomery-showed that the fleet and physique, which are essential for football at SEC levels.

“I think the fastest right is (brown),” said Junior Safety Jordan Castell after training on Thursday. “The guy has a completely different twitch.”

In the meantime, Wilson examined the spring exercises at 6-foot 3, 209 pounds. “I think there is a humility there. There is selflessness (with the group), ”said Napier.

“I think you can cope with the workload. They appear, they are painted, they are durable. … I thought they attacked the conditioning share in phase 2; I was impressed. And then we go here, we start teaching football. There is no doubt that they have skill, but they are young. I think there are still some things to learn. But there is definitely a brilliant future for this whole group. “

Tre Wilson is now elegant And robust.

Wilson, who was held by knee and hip operations last autumn, said that his weight rose from £ 170 to 191 and it turns out. The recipient in the third year, which is significantly thicker during his first spring media appearance on Thursday evening in the upper upper body and in his first spring media appearance, expects him to be “definitely” more explosive after his interventions.

“So even in warm-up and everything I feel easier, I feel much more hopping,” said Wilson, whose Breakout 2023 season 61 catches and six touchdown receptions of team-high-high-hihe. “So the power staff does their thing.”

The offensive line develops as the best of Napier.

Perhaps not by chance, the progress of this unit-from evil has corresponded to the recognition of her once advised head coach. After Florida approved 3.2 sacks in 2023, he developed into the fifth-host unit in the nation in 2024 in the sack rate and, according to Si.com, improved his Pro Football Football Pass blocking class.

Four starter with 89 combined college start bends back, the only departure with the right Tackle Brandon Clenshaw-Dickson. Bryce Lovett in the third year in the second year, which started in the Gasparilla Bowl with the right tackle, is the projected replacement. The competition for spots of the second team is violent.

“This is far from the deepest offensive line area that we have had since our time,” said Florida's offensive coach, Rob Sale, on Tuesday. “We have people who can play.”

The back end of the secondary level is beaten.

The Gators entered Spring Drills with three excessive defensive back, which combined 18 starts to 18 starts last season: Sharif Denson (foot), Aaron Gates (knee) and Bryce Thornton (ankle). It is expected that Denson will finally take part in a limited basis this spring. Gates is not.

“You will see how these newcomers (safe) get a chance,” said Napier. “And I think Josiah (Davis), Greg (Smith), Lagonza (Hayward), Drake (Stubbs).

4 questions

How concerned should fans be about Lagway's health?

Hard to say. Lagway's arm seemed to be in order in the Gasparilla Bowl three months ago, and Napier stated that the second student did not need an operation. In his jumping opening to Reporters nine days ago, however, Napier said that his employees “consulted with many experts here from a national perspective, as we do with many of our players in relation to the second opinions”.

Second opinions? Yikes. In the meantime, Lagway has set up for all four spring practices, although they only take mental repetitions and call games in some team periods. Stay tuned.

Speaking of quarterbacks, will Napier be the portal for another comb?

It is probably after the last season when an ACL injury of the season against the opening starter Graham Mertz and Lagways left Hamstring injury in the middle of the Georgia competition Napier without one and a half games without proven College Quarterback.

Yale Transfer Aidan Warner, who (if not effective) admired admirable when Lagway went down, stays on the squad. Napier also brought Harrison Bailey with doctoral students, who played sparingly at three previous schools in Division I (Louisville, UNLV, Tennessee). The four-star newcomer Tramell Jones, an earlier signer, is also in the camp.

“I think we always come from spring with a little better feeling for our team,” said Napier.

“I think we will rate our team, we will see where we are. I was really satisfied with the three boys who are taking repetitions. Think we have two good young players, and then we have a man who played a lot of ball, and then DJ is obviously back. We will know a lot more when we are finished with spring exercises. “

Who enters the nose protection?

The Gator lost 57 combined duels and almost 800 combined pounds with the descents of Cam Jackson and Armwood High Alumnus Desmond Watson. Search for Michai Boireau (15 duels in 2024) in the second year to take one, with 399 pound newcomers Stephon, Stephon Shivers in the camp, as early as a party, although currently limited.

Any locals to show themselves?

Apart from Tre Wilson (Gaither High) and Dallas Wilson (Tampa Bay Tech), Tony Livingston (King) guarantees that in the last two games of 2024 five catches and two touchdowns this spring with 6-foot 4 ¾, 260 pounds.

“He got in there at the beginning of his career and then he was injured and he would come out,” said Russ Callaway, coach Russ Callaway. “He was never out there. And then … on the right around the sixth game (in 2024) the injuries stopped and Tony was just beginning. And to be honest, he just got better. “
