84-year-old woman who was critically injured at the house fire on Indy's northeast side

Indianapolis-a 84-year-old woman lives, but in a critical condition after being saved on Tuesday morning by firefighters from her burning house in the northeast side.

Emergency calls at 911 reported a fire, but could not state a precise address of what the fire brigade of Indianapolis was looking for in search of the source of the flames.

The fire was ultimately in a residence on the Windridge Drive. When the first firefighters arrived shortly before 5 a.m., they found the one -story house on fire, with about 80% of the structured structure and heavy fire coming from the roof.

Firefighters identified a single window in the back of the house for admission and made their way inside. Within a minute, a fireman found the woman unconscious on her bed. The woman was brought out by the same window and handed over to the emergency staff outside.

IFD

IFD said that care for advanced life maintenance was (as) established and the woman was intubated shortly afterwards. She was then brought to the Eskenazi hospital, where it stays in a critical but stable state.

Firefighters found that the bedroom door was closed, which protected them from the strong smoke that filled the house – a crucial memory of the importance of tips on fire security such as “closing before the dlock”. However, the heavy fire tore through the attic at the top, and it only took two to three minutes after the woman was saved that the roof broke into the room.

IFD

After an aggressive attack by the firefighters, the fire was successfully brought under control at 5:45 a.m., although the structural damage was extensive, no injuries were reported to firefighters.

Unfortunately, a cat was in the fire.

The incident is currently being examined by IFD fire examinations. At this point it is unclear whether there were smoke detectors functioning in the household.
