88-year-old man who is accused

An 88-year-old man is in prison in Chantilly, Virginia, after shooting and killing his 87-year-old wife in her house on Friday morning, the police said.

The shootout took place in the couple's house in the Pennypacker Lane, shortly before 6 a.m.

When the police arrived at the one -story house near the International Airport Dulles, the officials found a troubling scene.

The husband shot his wife during a dispute, the police said. It is not yet clear what they argue about before it escalated.

The couple's daughter was the one who called in 911 after shots were fired. The police do not believe that she is suspect in the case, but said she was cooperating with the investigation.

The police arrested the husband and asked him on Friday afternoon.

The neighbors informed News4 that there had never been a police activity in the couple's house before Friday and had lived in his house for decades.
