A day of the game for young patients in the children's hospital

The Loma Linda University Children's Hospital Partners in Play event on March 10 brought together five local companies that had undertaken to open the day of pediatric patients who confronted themselves with serious medical challenges.

Arrowheart, the Foundation for Arrowhead Credit Union, Burgesons Heating and Cooling, Contour Dermatology, La Loma Federal Credit Union and Stater Bros Knocking Organizations took part in the initiative and offered committed activities and small tokens of encouragement for children, including those who were integrated from their hospital beds.

The event is intended to distract the patients from the clinical atmosphere and deliver playful activities. Children were able to select their own teddy bears, accompanied by a birth certificate and color, and take part in practical measurement activity to get a band measure as a souvenir.

“We are deeply grateful for the companies that enable partners in play and give our patients precious moments of normality and fun,” said Shelley Brassfield, coordinator of the Loma Linda University Children's Hospital Foundation.

For Kathi Cochran, co -owner and marketing coordinator of Burgeson's heating and cooling, experience was a strong memory of resilience.

“It was a fairly moving experience to be a small part of the day of these children,” said Cochran. “Knowing that many of them fight every day that so many people take for granted is incredibly inspiring.”

Jennifer Attah, manager of Arrowheart & Community Impact, repeated the feeling. “At Arrowheart Credit Union, we believe that even the smallest gestures can bring comfort and hope to the children who are faced with hard times,” she said. “When we see your smile, we remind us why we do this – to bring warmth, joy and security if you need it the most.”

Even for those who could not personally participate in the event, the participating companies ensured that every child felt enclosed, and provided gifts to take away from paths.

While the hospital continues its mission to provide compassionate care, initiatives such as partners in Play underline the importance of community partnerships to make something.
