A shooting examination in St. Albans after a man was injured


St. Albans, W.VA. – The Kanawha County's office examines a shootout that took place in St. Albans early Tuesday morning, in which a man was injured.

Around 3:13 a.m., the MPs reacted to the incident together with the police authority of Saint Albans to a reported shootout in a Go Mart in the Macorkle Avenue.

On arrival, they discovered a 39-year-old homeless man from St. Albans, who suffered from a gunshot wound on his upper left arm and shoulder area.

The victim informed the police that he went out of the Teay Hill cemetery and then drove a trace to West Main Street when the incident took place.

He said he heard what sounded like a “banging” noise while he was on the way outside, but did not immediately notice that he had been shot. The victim said he continued to go to the Go Mart Store, where he became aware of his injury and called in 911.

The man also said that he saw or met anyone when he went on the way. He was brought to a local hospital to treat non -life -threatening injuries.

The investigators believe that he was hit by Vogelhot pellets from a shotgun.

No suspects were identified at this point. The Kanawha County's Sheriff office asks anyone who may have information about the incident to contact the criminal investigative section under 304-357-0556.
