“Active” examination at Gainesville Walmart; Run evacuations, say the authorities

Companies near a Walmart in Gainesville were evacuated in the parking lot early Saturday morning due to an “active” incident with a possibly armed person.

People were asked to avoid the area until the situation has been solved, the authorities said.

What we know:

In the Walmart in the 2900 SW 42nd Street in Ocala, near the State Road 93 and State Road 24, an active investigation became underway. Gainesville Police and Alachua County Sheriff's Office.

The Gainesville police are the management of the investigation. The agency's office supports Alachua County's office, said the agency.

“The Gainesville police are currently on site and conduct an active examination at Walmart in the 2900 SW 42nd St.

“This incident is a threat to those in the area and we all ask that everyone is trying to solve the incident safely,” said Alachua's office.

“The parking lot and the surrounding companies are actively evacuated and traffic around the area is closed.”

What we don't know:

The agencies have not published any details of the type of examination, but only that it is active. It is unclear whether someone was injured in the incident.
