Adrian, Michigan (WTVG) – Local companies are still trying to recover from a devastating fire at the weekend, destroyed apartments and damaged five buildings in the city center of Adrian.
13 Action News spoke to Jim Cavender, the owner of Diamond Jim's Pool Hall. At the weekend, his business was damaged by the devastating fire that some city and firefighters have been the worst fire in the city for almost 25 years.
“When I arrived here, it wasn't as bad as I thought, but so quickly changed so quickly that it was devoured in flames within an hour,” said Cavender.
Jims Pool Hall is a family business that has been working for 17 years. Cavender said that the fire will have a great financial impact on his business. He said he was only a payment from having paid his place fully.
Now he will need a new roof and has to replace some, if not all 14 pools inside.
“I just pulled the cover from one of my pools and it was soaked. We talk about a brand new pool table costs 6,200 US dollars. So I don't know if I have my heart to lose weight today, ”said Cavender.
Cavender said it would take some time for the place to go back to operation, but he plans to do this.
Adrian's fire chief said the department received help from over a dozen other local fire brigades and fought against the flames for almost nine hours.
Adrian Board Development Authority Board hopes to help the affected person. The board started a fund to help the fund affected by the fire. The fund donated initial 5,000 US dollars and the Lenawee Community Foundation was worked together to achieve dollars for dollars up to $ 10,000.
