Just when some improvements have been made and young talent seems to be on the way, the Charleroi High School is looking for a football coach again.

Ty Aeschbacher, who trained the Cougars in the last two seasons, resigned on Wednesday and gave the district in a somewhat scramble mode to reach a new trainer.

Aeschbacher said he had resigned to pursue other interests that cannot be announced at this point.

“I had to make a decision based on what was best for my family and for me,” said Aeschbacher. “I think the program is on the right track again. I know that there is great hope for the current class of the eighth grade. I find the future bright. “

Last season, Charleroi went 1-9 and 1-5 in the WPIAL Class 2a Century conference. The Cougars made a 14-game defeat when they defeated Sto-Rox in 2024.

A year earlier, Charleroi went with no time and went 0: 9 and 0: 6 in a conference game.

Bruno Pappasergi, the sports director of the Cougars, said Charleroi wants to have a new coach on the spot by the end of March.

“I never (TY) stopped looking for other places,” said Pappasergi. “He's too young. He loved being here. He loved everything about the program, the administration and the children. He had the opportunity to go to a position and the place he loves. “

Pappasergi said Charleroi needed someone who rises and takes over the line.

“It was immediately posted in your own house and that has to go for about 10 days,” he said. “Then I will publish it and hopefully we will try the new coach until March 18 – in our next school council meeting. That is our goal now. Whether it will happen or not, I can't say exactly, but that's our goal. “

According to Pappasergi, co -trainers remain in the program to operate weight lifting and other things until a new trainer is present.

“We are looking for the improvement to continue, that's all,” said Pappasergi. “We see ourselves nothing more than that at the moment. If we have the chance to win the championship, great. The ultimate goal is only to ensure that our children get good coaching and learning and when they get out of our programs, they get better and better young people.

“It is a desirable job and a job that people want, because if you look at our middle school last year, you could see a lot of potential. I think there is an interest in the job. ”

In addition to Charleroi, Belle Vernon, Beth-Center and Waynesburg are other schools in the region who are looking for a football coach.

According to Denise Fundy, the sports director of Beth-Center, the district has again applied for its opening.

The direction committee of the district opened the football position held by Tony Ruscitto.

According to Fundy, applications and interviews are accepted and carried out by March 7. You can expect a new coach to be hired in March.
