AEW Collision 3/1/2025

FTR say the tag team doesn’t hasn’t been right since they left. And now… they’re back.

Kyle O’Reilly and Roderick Strong were once the best team in the world.. and nothing has changed. Top Guys… down. Cole doesn’t want to win the TNT Championship, he needs to. Tonight. That changes.

Julia Hart is here with Brody King. Hart says the Hart always wins. Okada accidentally walks through their promo and Brody barks at him.

Bandido and Hobbs say they handle stray town business tonight.. in Hobbs hometown.

Live from the Oakland Arena in Oakland, California!

Match #1. Undisputed Kingdom vs. FTR

Shoulder block by Roddy on Cash. Hip toss by Cash. Reset. Manhattan drop to Kyle and a dropkick. Baseball slide by Cash to Roddy. Cash tries a tornado DDT on the outside but Roddy blocks it Kyle comes off the apron with a knee. Back suplex on the LED board by Roddy. Kyle gets the tag and delivers some knees in the clinch. Cash escapes and tags Dax, who clears the ring with right hands. Snap suplex to Kyle, and now snap suplex to Roddy on top of Kyle. Cradle for two. Chops in the corner by Dax but Roddy breaks it up. Dax counters with a short-arm clothesline to Roddy, an attempt on Kyle, but Kyle counters with some leg kicks. Kyle grabs a single leg but Dax counters with a piledriver! One, two, three! Wait! Kyle’s leg was on the ropes, but the referee awards the match to FTR. Dax sees Kyle’s leg and points it out to the referee. We get an instant replay now and we see Kyle’s leg just made it to the bottom rope before the three count. FTR tell the referee to call it off and restart the match, as the fans chant “restart the match”. Here we go, again. Dax tosses Kyle into the ring post and Kyle returns the favor. Quick tag to Cash and he posts Kyle as well. Hard chops by Cash and we go to commercial. Jawbreaker by Kyle but Cash cuts off his attempts at making a tag. Running clothesline by Cash but Kyle moves and Cash lands hard. Dax gets the tag and looks for another piledriver but Kyle gets free and makes the tag. Rising knee to Dax. Back breaker to Cash. Dropkick to Dax! Roddy is a house of fire and plants Dax with the back suplex into a face buster. Two count. Cash comes in to help but Roddy hits the Olympic Slam on him. One for Dax. Running elbow in the corner to Dax and Kyle gets the tax. Axe kick by Kyle and a rolling elbow/high knee combo by the UE gets two as Cash breaks it up. Roddy gets dumped to the outside but Kyle grabs a toe hold on Cash. Cash taps quickly but Dax is the legal man. Dax rolls Kyle up but Kyle shoves him off and into Cash! Kyle rolls up Dax but then dives for the toe hold again. Cash shoves him off and Kyle goes through the ropes and Cash hits him with a right hand, allowing Dax to roll him up, with the tights! Two count. FTR looks for the spike piledriver but Kyle gets free and Roddy flies in with a big knee to Cash. Now Cash throws Roddy off the top as Kyle jumps the guillotine on Dax! Cash comes off the top with an elbow to a prone Kyle, who’s got Dax in a guillotine. Long two! Spike piledriver to Kyle! Roddy breaks it up just before the three. Knee to the back of Roddy sends him to the floor. FTR set up the Power Plex on Kyle but Roddy holds the ankle of Kyle to save him. Cash throws Roddy from the apron and NOW it’s the Power Plex! One, two, NO! Kyle kicks out! Roddy breaks up a Shatter Machine attempt to Kyle with a knee to the face and Total Elimination gets the UE the win!

Winners: Undisputed Kingdom

Rating: ****1/4. Reminiscent of their glory days in NXT, FTR and the UK tore the house down in the opener. 20+ minutes in the opener, the golden days of Collision. This match was great and the seeds of an FTR heel turn have been planted.

After the match, Kyle and Roddy offer their hands and FTR… think better of it! FTR walk out on them.

Willow Nightingale says people forget what happens when her smile fades… and just ask Marina Shafir.

Match #2. Wheeler Yuta vs. Willie Mack

Hip toss and a senton by Yuta. Yuta locks in a single leg crab but Mack barely makes it to the rope. Yuta holds on and then yells at the referee that he’s got until the five count. Release German suplex by Yuta. Two count. Yuta comes off the top and misses, as Mack responds with a stiff lariat and a leg lariat. Cannonball in the corner by Mack! Body slam and a standing moonsault! Two count. Yuta blocks a Stunner and counters with a Busaiku Knee for the win.

Winner: Wheeler Yuta

Rating: *1/4. Mack got in just enough offense to make it more than a squash, but it looked odd at times.

Jon Moxley is here, carrying his briefcase to the ring. Mack offers his hand to Yuta and Moxley blasts him from behind. Moxley says it’s time for Yuta to finish the job. Moxley tells Yuta the stakes are too high and Mack doesn’t walk away from this. Finish the job, Yuta. Yuta blasts Mack in the face with the briefcase. Poor Mack.

Mercedes Mone is in the back and Billy Starkz approaches her with her missing ROH Title. Momo says enjoy it while it lasts

Timeless Toni Storm is laid up in a hospital bed. What do you want, Mariah? The title? Or Toni’s soul. Mariah, do you want a Hollywood ending? No DQ. No count out. No rope break. No Holds Barred and Falls Count Anywhere. Mariah, my sweet, dear, Mariah. I hope you believe in God, because now you’re going to meet her!

Match #3. Swerve Strickland vs. Clark Connors

NJPW’s Clark Connors has arrived in AEW. One half of the Bullet Club War Dogs, too. Snap mare and a diving European uppercut to the back of Connors. Connors goes to the hair and the eyes of Swerve, before running over Swerve with a shoulder block. Aubrey got in the way of Connors hitting the ropes and he let her have it, and the crowd didn’t like that. Swerve ducks under and drops Connors with a backbreaker on the knee. Swerve hammerlocks the arm and steps on Connor’s other arm, snapping it! Nana says “that’s the Swerve I’m looking for” as we go to commercial. Back from break and Swerve’s got the wrist trap, and Connors elbows himself out. Swerve looks for a rolling suplex but Connors shoves him into the turnbuckle and snaps off a powerslam. Connors charges but Swerve gets the boots up and hits a corkscrew kick. Swerve sets Connors up on the top rope and brings him back in hard with a belly to back suplex. Two count. Connors elbows out of a half nelson and headbutts Swerve like a rhino. Release German suplex by Connors. Connors prepares the spear but Swerve counters with a rolling thunder flatliner. Swerve comes off the top with a Swerve Stomp attempt but Connors counters with a spear! Two count. Arm ringer by Swerve and the Housecall connects out of nowhere. One, two, three.

Winner: Swerve Strickland

Rating: **1/4. This one felt a bit… off. What matters is Swerve got a win, though.

Swerve tells the camera that Ricochet is in his way and Swerve is taking back OUR legacy.

Harley Cameron joins the desk and renames her finishing move, “My Finishing Move.”

Alicia Atout is with Big Boom AJ and the dude that isn’t The Rizzler. AJ is eating a cookie and John Morrison bumps into them, and challenges them to a trios match at Revolution… if they can find two friends. Alright then.

Match #4. Shane Taylor Promotions vs. Nick Ruiz, Vinnie Massaro, & Dave Dutra

Rolling elbow by Bravo to Massaro. Dutra gets jumped in the corner. Clothesline by Dean. Double curb stomp. Moriarty finishes this one with The Fang.

Match #5. AEW TNT Championship: Daniel Garcia (c) vs. Adam Cole

Both guys match move-for-move to start, so Garcia hits his dance moves. Fisherman’s swinging neckbreaker by Garcia gets two. Mounted punches in the corner by Garcia but Cole escapes and superkicks his leg out from underneath him. Hanging backstabber by Cole! Two count. Cole misses a pump kick but doesn’t miss an enziguiri. Fireman’s carry by Cole but Garcia gets free and rolls to the apron, grabs a leg, and it’s a dragon screw leg whip between the ropes. Garcia sets Cole up on a chair in the corner on the outside and crushes him with a running dropkick. Commercial time. Overhand chops by Garcia but he runs into a pump kick. Ushigaroshi! One, two, no! Garcia reverses a suplex with a swinging neck breaker, but Cole holds on and drops Garcia with a brainbuster on the knee! Cole thinks Panama Sunrise, but Garcia catches him on the top rope. Garcia attacks the injured ankle of Cole and superplexes Cole off the top! Garcia holds on, stands Cole up, and piledrives him! Two count. Crowd is on their feet here. Cole feigns a superkick to the face and goes to the knee, then goes to the face! Panama Sunrise by Cole! One, two, no! Cole tries to lower the boom but Garcia ducks and sends Cole with a Saito suplex! Cole rolls outside and Garcia runs right into a superplex. Cole lowers the boom on the outside! Garcia gets rolled in the ring, but only gets two. Cole wants another Panama Sunrise but Cole’s ankle gives out, so Cole thinks superkick, but switches legs. Garcia catches the leg and snatches an ankle lock! Crowd is going crazy as Cole tries to fight to the bottom rope, but Garcia sits down harder! Cole crawls.. inch-by-inch.. and gets there! Garcia with some angry ground and pound and now both guys are on the apron… and Garcia drills Cole with a piledriver! Somehow, Cole gets in before the ten count, and both guys are face-to-face! HOCKEYYY FIGHTTTTTT. Fifteen minutes have gone by, and five minutes remain in the time limit. Shane Taylor Promotions hit the ring and jump both guys!

Winner: No Contest

Rating: ***3/4. Man oh man, we got some real good wrestles here. The finish was unfortunate, but they’re going somewhere and there’s definitely more meat on the bone. The crowd was electric throughout, and that for sure helped, but Garcia’s work on Cole played a huge part in the match.

Daddy Magic, who was on commentary, is about to hit the ring to help but Shane Taylor blindsides him. Double curb stomp by The Infantry to Cole. Border City Stretch by Moriarty on Garcia as we scurry to a video package highlighting The Opps.

Big Justice and the other fella have chosen Orange Cassidy, and Orange Cassidy calls fellow Conglomeration member Mark Briscoe.

Match #6. Queen Aminata vs. Julia Hart

Both women exchange head locks and we reset. Hart ducks under a clothesline and STO’s Aminata by the throat. Two count. Standing moonsault by Hart gets another two. Hart looks for Hartless but can’t lock it in as Aminata gets to the ropes. Hart looks for a moonsault off the top but Amianta misses, and Hart lands on her feet, but her knee buckles awkwardly. Huge headbutt by Aminata and Hart falls backwards on the bottom rope. Aminata lines her up and drills her with a running sliding kick right to the neck. One, two, three! Huge upset.

Winner: Queen Amianta

Rating: **. Surprising outcome here, but Aminata getting a huge win is pretty cool and the fans respond well to her.

A video look at the International Championship series.

Kenny Omega is here with a video package. Omega heard Don Callis talk about him the entire time he was out, but what Omega is about to do is not about revenge, it’s about the title. If Omega can’t beat Takeshita, maybe it’s time for him to realize that the old Kenny Omega is gone. Omega has had a year to become better, without the extra baggage of the friends that left him behind.

Match #7. Powerhouse Hobbs & Bandido vs. The Learning Tree

Keith gets right in the face of Hobbs and gets shoulder blocked for his troubles. Vertical suplex stall by Hobbs, who tags Bandido, and passes Keith to Bandido in a military press, who holds Keith with one arm, and then throws him to Hobbs, who connects with a fall away slam. Wow, that was awesome. Bill bets the tag and he TOWERS over Bandido. Bandido flips out of a choke slam and FINGER GUNS to Big Bill. Bill is heated and the fans are loving this. Bill calls for a duel but he tries to attack Bandido from behind, but Bandido sees it coming and counters with an enziguiri. Bandido goes to the apron where Keith runs him over with a big boot behind the referee’s back. Commercial. Back from break and an exploder by Keith and a big elbow by Bill to Bandido. Bandido escapes a powerbomb and Bill misses a splash in the corner. Keith is in the ring now but Bandido counters with the Acid Drop and tags Hobbs! Hobbs clears the ring and sends Keith into Bill, before dropping Bill with a jumping clothesline. Forever avalanches in the corner by Hobbs. Bill gets dumped to the outside and Keith gets caught going up top. Twisting powerslam off the top by Hobbs but Bill makes the save. Bandido in now and he gets caught with the Black Hole Slam. Bill tries a chokeslam to Bandido but gets POUNCEDDDDD! Leaping enziguiri by Keith. Rolling elbow by Bandido. Chop fest! Both guys hit the ropes and it’s a double dropkick as both guys are down. Bill in now, as is Hobbs. Bill misses a big boot and Hobbs body blocks him over the top and to the floor. Bandido hops on the shoulder of Hobbs and moonsaults to the floor, but Bill in no way catches him and Bandido crashes flat down on the floor on the outside. Brutal. Keith rolls up Hobbs from behind and got two. Hobbs runs through Keith and the straps come down. Spinebuster by Hobbs and this one is over!

Winners: Bandido & Powerhouse Hobbs

Rating: ***. Lots of fun here in the main event with the crowd loving everything that the hometown hero, Powerhouse Hobbs, did. Hobbs and Bandido (who was okay, thankfully) reign supreme and the crowd goes home happy.
