Brevard County, Florida -After 38 seasons and 606 Siegen, the legendary Florida -Tech -Basketball coach John Reynolds has announced his retirement.

Reynolds has been part of the Panther program since its foundation, starting as an assistant in the opening season 1986-87 and the following year the helmet. He leaves and leaves a legacy of success, only a few programs have experienced for over three decades.

“First of all, I would like to thank everyone of our alumni for the commitment and spirit that they left here, and passed on to generations of teams that I have to train,” said Reynolds.

“I am grateful for all coaches and scholar athletes, against which I have had the chance against him in the past 39 years.”

“I would like to thank Florida Tech for the opportunity and support you gave me. I will be grateful for the opportunity forever that Bill Jürgens offered me all the years ago. For all professors and employees with whom I have worked with over the years who have allowed me to be, with the requirements that I have put in time, I am grateful and grateful that I had the opportunity to meet and work with them.

“But mostly I would like to thank my children, especially my wife Gloria, for all the victims they made so I can do what I love.”

Under his guidance, the Panthers made nine NCAA Division II tournament appearances and a regional title in South and published in 2002 in the NCAA Division II Elite.

Reynolds led Florida Tech to five Sunshine State Conference season and 32 SSC tournaments, including a series of 20 direct appearances from 1988 to 2007. Florida Tech has won on 10 SSC tournament championship games.

Reynolds was recognized for his work by selecting five times ('92, '93, '97, '07, '07) and in South region Coach of the year.

He trained 62 all-SSC players, five SSC newcomers of the year, four SSC players of the year, ten NCAA Division II All-South Region Player, three all-south region tournaments of the NCAA Division II, seven NCAA Division II All-Americans and three Florida Tech Hall of Famers.

Four of Reynolds' former players, Felicia Bell, Christine Ferron Keenan, Paulette King-Morin and Sanja Rellenkovic, were included in the SSC silver anniversary team in 2007. The quartet helped Florida Tech to place most of the team in any other school. King-Morin was selected as the top SSC player for the first 25 years. Ferron Keenan, King-Morin and Rellenkovic are the SSC Hall of Famers.

Florida Tech will immediately start a national search for the next chief basketball coach of women.
