Columbia City, ind. – Nationale AG Day is March 18 with the topic of “growing together”. When the world population increases, there is even greater demand for food, fibers and renewable resources created in the United States.

In 2025, Nationale AG Day marks the 52nd Year of nationwide efforts to share real stories of American agriculture and to remind citizens from the fact that agriculture affects everyone. From the food we eat and the fuel for our vehicles, to fiber in the clothes we wear, and the oil, with which children are produced with colorful pins, agriculture touches every day in any way.

Are you looking for a meaningful career? More and more students and individuals are finding careers in agriculture, food or natural resources. The industry needs scientists, biologists, food safety technicians, economists, food specialists, tree nurses, foresters, conservationists, animal husbandry staff, agronomists, grain manufacturers and more. If you have a passion in one of these or a related area, your intellect, your skills and talent can achieve your full potential in agriculture and its associated areas. These specialists, farmers and committed farmers are required directly. If you are ready to work, there is most likely a place for you.

According to the USDA Economic Research Service in 2022, 22.1 million full and part-time workers were associated with the agricultural and food sector- 10.4 percent of the entire US employment. Direct employment on the farm accounted for around 2.6 million of these jobs or 1.2 percent of US employment. Employment in the agricultural and food industry supported a further 19.6 million jobs. Food services, food and drinking places for the largest share – 17 million jobs and food/drinks shops supported 3.3 million jobs. The remaining agricultural industries have added a further 3.5 million jobs.

As a consumer, we can sometimes take the availability, the price, security, quantity and the quality of our food for granted. Despite the youngest inflation, we have some of the best foods at the best price in the world.

Consumers should also understand that food in the grocery store does not magically appear. The farmers produced this food through a lot of commitment and hard work. Food handler and processors made sure that they have been safely arrived in the grocery so that they can choose, prepare and share their family.
