Alabama football in the transition: 20 players in spring structures to be seen

Alabama's spring practice begins next week and the word used in the program is enthusiasm. This week, the Crimson Tide gives the conditioning of the offseason conditioning, and there is an excitement to come back in the field and return to College Football Playoff form in 2025.

“I'm looking forward to the enthusiasm that you have now transferred to Spring Ball,” said General Manager Courtney Morgan. “I am happy to see our newcomers, our newcomers. I am only looking forward to the competition to see people who understand that last year was not good enough and the enthusiasm that they come to work every day and come to work. People from whom I think they are about to get better, boys who may show flashes at the end of the season will be able to build this dynamic. “

Spring practice lays the basis for the season, position fights gain more clarity and the staff is closely assessed in front of the spring portal window. The quarterback competition is clearly the most important action, but there is no shortage of other important players and positions that are closely monitored in spring.

Here are five players you can see from each class.

Senior citizen

Dl lt overton – Overton led the defensive with 42 duels last season, and there is a lot more production. According to Pro Football Focus, he took the fifth in the Sec (31) last season in the Sec (31), but converted only two of these prints into sacks. Missed sacks were a problem for the entire team, and the tide took the 69th place in 2024.

If overton improves its pressure-to-sack ratio and increases its production, it is considered for the all-conference award and a high-round draft.

Ol Justin Jefferson – Jefferson was the most improved player in 2024, who took fourth place in the team in Tackles (60) and took fourth place in TFLS (6.5) after playing rarely in 2023. After the decision by Diego Pavia/Junior College, he was granted an additional year of justification.

Deontae Lawson left until the autumn camp, which means that Jefferson is initially the defensive caller caller. His experience will help Colorado Nikhai Hill-Green and the defense stay on the right track. As soon as Lawson returns, the Insider LineBacker Group is very impressive.

Ol Jaeden Roberts – Roberts left injuries last year from spring practice and passed throughout the season. He played in 12 games, but played snapshots with Geno Vandemark on the right guard. This spring offers a fresh start for Roberts, which is proven to be healthy.

Wr germie Bernard – Bernard was one of the most constant players in Alabama last season and is one of the leading leaders on the offensive that occur this spring. A healthier and more productive group of recipients enables Bernard as a multi -dimensional weapon. He achieved an average of 15.9 yards per catch and 9.3 yards per rush a year ago. It is also worth noting that this is the first time in Bernard's career that he did not broadcast in the low season. The continuity should benefit him.

DL Tim Keenan – Keenan's return was probably Alabama's biggest squad retention victory and strengthened the line of defense at the starter level. His piece has improved in the last two seasons, and another year of progress could bring him into the entire SEC consideration. But what Keenan is in the lead is perhaps his biggest attribute, and this spring is needed because he looks after a young group who is asked to deliver depth.

Juniors

Ol Kadyn Proctor – Proctor has started almost every game for two years and was sometimes dominant. There were also inconsistencies; His 13 stress last season was the second most common team behind Elijah Pritchett. If you take part in spring practice this year, Proctor can create a solid basis that was not the case last year when he moved to Iowa shortly. Tackle Play was liability last season and will be a focus area this spring. How Proctor continues his development is a leading action.

DB Bray Hubbard – Hubbard was not a starter until week 6 and still led Alabama with three interceptions (connected to Zabien Brown). Now that Malachi Moore has graduated and Keon Sabb is still recovering from the foot injury last season, he will take on a much larger leadership role this spring. It will be interesting to see how big a jump hubbard can go into the second year as a starter. His ability as a passport defender and Tackler makes him one of the greatest weapons in defense.

DL James Smith – Smith was up at the end of the season and had four duels and a sack in the Reliaquest Bowl. This spring Smith will take a full -time role and expectations are high. He was a strong situation player last season, but Alabama needs him to become a more consistent one that combines with Keenan on a defensive tackle.

Ol Parker Brailsford – Brailsford missed the time in the last spring, but returned to start every game in the middle and only allow half a sack in a total of 777 snaps. He was appointed several all-America teams, and his experience in the middle of the offensive line, especially with a new quarterback, is critical.

Te Danny Lewis Jr. – Lewis is not achieved as other names on this list, but he is very well thought out in the program. This was recognizable in December when Alabama convinced him to return after entering the transfer portal.

There are many options this year and there is a conviction that Lewis can take it.

“I feel like this when there are 10 or 15 children who have really developed and have a long, long path since the first day this spring. He would certainly be one of them, ”said Kalen Deboer. “More repetitions will be something that only helps him become a better football player. So he's flowing into that. “

Sophomores

WR Ryan Williams – Williams was a star in 2024. The most exciting part for Alabama fans is that there is still so much space for growth in his game. Because after his performance against Georgia, Williams was not as dazzling as last season. There were times when ball security or tasks were a problem, but that was expected for a 17 -year -old who was number 1 in a prominent team. The expectation should be that he was one of the most dominant players in the country in 2025.

DB Zabien Brown – Brown led all Freshman defensive backs with three interceptions in 2024. With a full year of experience, he should be able to make another jump this autumn. With Brown and Domini Jackson back there is reason to assume that Alabama could have one of the best cornerback tandems in College football.

RB Richard Young -Young is a former five-star recruit that is waiting for his turn and seems to be prepared to play a larger role in the Backfield. Last season he showed lightning in a limited campaign. How it fits into a revised running game will be interesting.

DB ZAY MINCEY -Mincey, a former five-star recruit, settled in safety and saw himself towards the end of the season, culating in a seven tacking performance in the Bowl game. Minty will play a role in this defense, be it safe or possibly at Husky (slot).

WR Jaylen Mbakwe – Mbakwes short flirt with the transfer portal was a remarkable story outside the season. He returned and will get the opportunity to switch from the cornerback to the wide receiver. Alabama needs game skills in the position. How much jump can he make this spring?

First semester

Ol Jackson Lloyd – The offensive tackle from California was available last January in the last scholarship offer from Deboer's scholarship holder. Now the former five-star five stars have the chance to fight for the playing time at the right tackle and fight against Redshirt in the second year Wilkin Formby. In Lloyd, Alabama gets a three-sports athlete with an 84-inch wing span. The question is: will he be ready to make a contribution this season? Time will show it, but Lloyd will be a newcomer to keep an eye on this spring.

DB Ivan Taylor -The son of 12-year-old NFL veteran Ike Taylor was recruited both as a nickel cornerback and as security. He played in West Orange High in Winter Garden, Florida, one of the TOP 7A programs in the state. He should provide help in several places immediately.

Ol Michael Carroll -Carroll, a consensus-five star recruit, has the opportunity to secure a place on the two-deep place in several positions. It is listed as the interior and will take a look at the guard, but he has the size profile (6-foot 6, 315 pounds) in order to offer depth at Tackle if necessary.

DL Jeremiah Beaman -A redefine newcomer, Beaman earned himself in the Bowl game after a few players were transferred, and he ended with two duels and a quarterback print. He has increased almost £ 30 since his enrollment, and at 6-4 and 296 he is a main candidate to secure a rotary zone with a defensive tackle.

WR Rico Scott -Another red-shirt newcomer, Scott, was in Scrimmages during the autumn camp last season, with a 31-yard touchdown fan against Mercer and a 28-yard run in Bowl game. Now, one year older, Scott has the chance to enter the recipient rotation with a strong source.
