Alex Ovechkin continues the story in the NHL. On Tuesday evening, the Washington Capitals striker scored his 30th goal of the season against the Calgary Flames in the Capital One Arena and extended his record for most seasons from 30 goals in the history of the NHL. This is the 19th time in his legendary career that he has reached this milestone and continues to set its place among the sizes of all time.

His historical goal came on the power game at the beginning of the third period. Ovechkin was on the bottom of the left circle and fired one of his characteristic one-timer-calgary goalkeeper Dan Vladar and sneaked it onto the short side. The gate not only added its remarkable season, but also climbed closer to one of the most sought-after records in Hockey-Wayne Gretzky's all-time goal. With 883 Career goals, Ovechkin, is now only 12 away from surpassing Gretzky's brand from 894, a record that was once inviolable. Gretzky, who played 20 NHL games before retiring in 1999, scored 14 times 14 times in his career.

Ovechkin already took first place for most seasons from 30 goals last year when he exceeded Mike Gartner, who achieved performance 17 times in 19 seasons. Although the 39-year-old was missing this season at the beginning of this season due to a broken left fibula, he still scored 30 goals in just 42 games, which again proves that age is only a number. He also joins in an exclusive club as just the fourth player in NHL history, who scored at least 30 goals at the age of 39, together with legends such as Gordie Howe, Johnny Bucyk and Teemu.

Ovechkin has been moved in by the capitals in 2004 since 2004. The only time that he did not score 30 goals was in the shortened 2020-21 season when he scored 24 in just 45 games during the Covid 19 pandemy. His name is distributed in the NHL history books, holds the record for most seasons of 40 goals (13) and shares the top position for 50 goal seasons (nine) with Gretzky and Mike Bossy. He also took second place at 20 in 20 gymnastics plays with 20, with 20 and only Gordie Howes 22.

Updated schedule for Alex Ovechkin to write history

Alex Ovechkin is only 12 goals from history, and the countdown is officially on with 24 games in the season. So far he has achieved an impressive pace of 0.73 goals per game. If he is on the right track, he is on the right track to break Wayne Gretzky's all-time correction on April 4 in front of the home vehicles against the Chicago Blackhawks.

Of course, hockey is not always predictable. Ovechkin's value price this season is faster than last year, but there is no guarantee that it will be kept the same pace. If he slows down a little, he still has a lot of time to do the work with six games after April 4th. And when he gets hot and the pace writes down, he could break the record even earlier. One thing is certain – he has every opportunity to write history before the end of the season.

It is important to note that Playoff gates are not counted for the careerums, so Ovechkin has to do it in the regular season. Here is a look at the remaining schedule of the capitals when he closes Gretzky's legendary brand:
