“All I want is a nice, lush oasis”

While drought -tolerant gardens are both beautiful and environmentally friendly, they all often look the same. A garden expert recently informed a helpful TIKTOK video with the different types of plant that can thrive in a drought-tolerant garden, including colorful flowering plants.

The domestic plant -loving Karla (@nativotx), who has a local plant business in Texas, gave specific plant suggestions in her Tikok video that entitled: “Part 2 of our 2025 sustainable garden trends: Xeriscape Landscapes!”

“When people think of them, they traditionally think of agaves, succulents, yuccas, who replace mulch with stones,” says Karla. According to the explanation of drought -tolerant gardens, it can actually include many other plants and materials, and gives some specific examples.

Four nervous daisies, blackfoot geese, rock rose and Mealy Blue Sage were recorded in their list. She also finds that there are different floor covers and evergreen plants that thrive with little irrigation in the heat to fill your garden and turn it into something unique.

“We have brutal summer in Texas. So if you use local plants that are used to our droughts and are used to our kind of heat, you will thrive,” says Karla. “It will work well. You will have this beautiful flowering garden that you always wanted.”

Not only local plants create breathtaking gardens, but also save home owners both time and money. They require less irrigation, which leads to lower water invoices and does not need a lot of work and maintenance to thrive.

Local plants also create a healthy ecosystem for pollinators that helps people because they protect our food supply. The installation of native plants or the switch to a natural lawn – with replacement pieces such as clover or buffalo grass – is a great way to save some money and at the same time help the environment. Even a partial lawn replacement enables homeowners to harvest the rewards.
