Allergy Mom Video: How to stay in a VRBO and have great food

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnkj0x6blsw

The parents of the parents, Megan Lavin and their family, recently had a five-day trip and they decided to spend the night at a VRBO vacation rental.

With this trip she says in her new video: “I knew that a hotel wouldn't cut it.” Her six six sons comprise two sons with several food allergies, and she didn't want to eat that often. Their argument was a combination of “food allergies, budgets and healthier, homemade meals”.

How is she done for meal planning? First, because the family's SUV has a small trunk, Megan only submitted for the road trip and the VRBO stay with food alliance friendliness. Things like safe bread and sun butter that may not be easy to find in an unknown grocery store.

Then, as she explained in this issue of the Megan's Minute Video series for Allergic Living, she was busy planning the simple, delicious meals. She took her crock pot for meals like “Chicken Tikka Masala so that I could put it and forget while we were on the road.” She also used it for soup and breakfast stacos.

After she was unpacked, she went to the grocery store to get fresh, safe food.

Megan's tips for a VRBO stay

In the video, Megan also offers several tips to make your meal planning easier – and do not let them down when cooking with allergies.

For example, she recommends:

  • E -mail to the VRBO property that you rent in advance to find out which kitchen utensils you have.
  • “Think of every step and every article that you have to make a success for your recipe that you may simply take away at home.”
  • Remember essentials like allergy-friendly non-Steak spray or olive oil and containers for remnants. The same applies to aluminum film or plastic film.

Megan says: “As I have seen before, pushing outside of your limits really pays off.” The family had a great short vacation. “I hope that inspires you to get out of there with your feed allergic family!”
