Amarillo fire brigade shares tips on carbon monoxide security

Amarillo, Texas (KfDA) – The Amarillo fire brigade gave tips on which devices can endanger your home and family with carbon monoxide.

Carbon monoxide, also known as “Silent Killer”, could affect your home and family if you are not aware of the danger it is.

Most know that you do not use propan and charcoal grills inside and cannot drive your car in the garage with a door closed, but there are other devices that can hand over dangerous gas levels to your home.

Gast dryers, herds and hot water leaders all have to be properly ventilated, and there are devices that you can use to protect your family.

“Co poisoning happens at night because people are not in operation, they sleep. They are not aware of, they do not move around, they do not go to the house, so we always recommend bringing a CO detector into a hallway, ”said Jason Love, public pedagogue at Amarillo Fire Department. “If you can put one outside of every bedroom, it will be ideal.”

There are other dangerous options on how carbon monoxide can affect your family, including roof work.

“You have a roof replaced, these joints for this ventilation slot will come loose and after a long period of time you can potentially see a ventilation pipe that is in the attic that contaminates the entire house because this petrol settles into the house,” said Love.

Love adds that there are places where you do not want to add a carbon monoxide detector, including right next to every gas burning device.

Of course, these devices regularly spend small amounts of carbon monoxide, and these emissions can lead to the detector exhibits warning warnings that finally use the batteries.

If you inspect your heating annually, you can also prevent dangerous leaks in your house.
