Amazon to set the “Download and Transfer via USB” function for Kindle users

Amazon has announced that on February 26, 2025 it will stop the “Download & Transfer via USB” for Kindle devices. This change means that users are no longer able to download purchased eBooks to a computer in order to be transferred to their Kindle via a USB cable. Instead, the delivery of content requires a Wi-Fi connection, with books sent directly to registered Kindle devices or accessible via the Kindle app and the Kindle for Web.

The “Download & Transfer via USB” function was particularly useful for users without reliable Wi-Fi access or for those who prefer their e-book purchases. His distance has triggered concerns about the ability to maintain offline copies of purchased content, especially in view of the previous cases in which Amazon removed or changed the content.

Amazon has assured users that previously downloaded books remain accessible on their devices. In addition, the possibility of sending personal documents to the integration of devices via USB is not influenced by this change.

Users who want to keep offline copies of their purchased E -Books are recommended to download and transfer them via USB before the deadline on February 26. To do this, register with your Amazon account, navigate to “Manage content and devices”, select the desired E -Book, click on “Further actions” and select “Download & Transfer via USB”. After this date, all content transfers need an active Wi-Fi connection.
