Anti -Semitic vandalism of the examined pool building of Wayland – NBC Boston

Karen and Ken Krowne, long -time residents of Wayland, Massachusetts, were among the many sad about a symbol of hate that was plastered in a very public place.

“As a Jew, I am personally very insulted and worried about it,” said Ken Crowne.

It is the second time in the last 16 months that a swastika has been found in the city.

“Here it is to raise his ugly head again,” said Karen Crowne. “And the only thing we can do is to stand on it – more and more.”

The swastika was painted on Wednesday morning on the side of the building where the city pool was housed.

It is on a main street and at the entrance to the high school.

It has now been covered up.

“I think we unfortunately live at a time when anti -Semitism increases in our country, and it is therefore not surprising that our city of Wayland would be affected by an incident like this,” said Rabbi Danny Burkeman of Temple Shir Tikva in Wayland.

In 2022, the pool was also aimed at a symbol of hatred against the black community.

Wednesday evening people came together to discuss this last incident of hate in the city at a meeting organized by The Wayland Community Action Network.

“I am glad that we have at least a group that can bring people together,” said Caroline Higgins, co -founder of WCAN. “People are ready to talk and people want brainstorming about how such things can prevent when they happen.”

Dozens of people emerged who were interested in being part of the solution and finding out why this continues to happen.

“At the moment there is a lot of hatred among many people, and I think that spray ball hooks or a symbol of hate are not the way to really express how they feel,” said Wcan co-founder Allison Kates.

The Wayland police examine the vandalism of the pool. Each with information is asked to call the call under 508-358-4721 or leave a tip anonymously under 508-358-1726.
