Analyst Jeff PU recently reported in a research note with the investment company GF Securities that the A20 chip for the iPhone 18 models is produced with the 3NM process of the second generation of TSMC, which is known as 3NP.

This would be the same process that is also used for the production of A19 and A19 Pro chips. According to the information, it became clear that the new iPhone 18 would have the overall performance as the other previous generation.

Lecks over C2 modemchip

According to further updates from Jeff PU, the new chips would have an upgrade that would be a chip on Wafer on substrate (cowos) package technology. This new technology would enable the integration of the processor of the chip, uniform storage and neural engine.

In addition, another leak from Jeff PU has shown that the upcoming new iPhone 17 Air would be operated by the same C1 modem technology as that of the 16E. There were expectations on the market that Apple could bring in a new C2 modemchip with the iPhone 17 series, but these expectations have been lifted to this day.

The C2 modem chip would most likely only be introduced with the new iPhone 18. Manufacturers often prepare for modem chips before they are adapted in prototype phones, which is why Apple can now work on the generation C2 and C3 modems.
