Apple Watch has played a crucial role for NHL referees

It turns out that the Apple Watch played a decisive role in the management of hockey referees in the administration of NHL games. This is thanks to a specially built app called NHL Watch Comms for On-Ice NHL officials. The app is used for the first time in an outdoor environment for the stage series of tomorrow in Ohio.

For the first time in an outdoor game, the league officials will use the NHL Watch Comms app developed by Presidio for Apple Watch to get situations in real time throughout the action.

Officials will receive haptic notifications during the game, including countdowns for game facts, countdowns for penalty watch and Jersey numbers, of which players are in the penalty area at a certain point in time.

This technology has tested and refined at certain indoor locations in the last seasons, but Saturday will mark the debut of the NHL Watch Comms app in an environment if the Columbus Blue Jackets organize the Detroit Red Wings in the Ohio Stadium, the famous football stage of Ohio State University.
