Applications from the International University of Florida Growth

Florida International University welcomed its largest freshmen class last autumn. Around 5,300 students have highlighted a more comprehensive trend of increasing applicants with bachelor and graduate programs that continue to grow.

“What we see is a growth of the applicants,” said Jeanette M. Nuñez, Interim President of Fiu. “We have a lot more people who have really proud to us.

In autumn 2024 semester, the University closed 48,624 studies, including 44,045 students, and marked an increase compared to the previous year. This number does not include double registrations or non -permanent students, which brings the total closeness to 55,000. Fiu also increased significantly for the first time in College applications, which rose by 29.8% in the summer of 2024, autumn 2024 and in spring 2025 compared to the previous year.

“We welcomed a huge freshman class last autumn and expect the trend to be continued,” said Ms. Nuñez. The increase in applications in combination with a forecast registration rate of about 41% for this year underlines the growing demand for FIU academic offers.

In particular, several Bachelor programs have recorded a remarkable increase in enrollment, including computer science, biology, finance, cyber security, bookkeeping, sport and exercise. Graduate programs such as special education, law, nursing, psychology, accounting and early childhood education have also been grown.

While enrollment and applications have risen for newcomers, Fiu has seen fewer transfer students. “If you look at the growth of the applications and the students who apply for four -year universities compared to other routes, we have actually seen a downward trend for some of our transfer students,” said Ms. Nuñez.

She explained that the university analyzes paths from College system according to FIU to ensure that the students have an excellent experience, regardless of their path to the university. “We are always looking for ways to improve the way you can come to Fiu,” she said. “We want to make sure that this experience is excellent.”
