Argus, St. Patrick will combine on March 16 for the largest parade day of the Jefferson Parish

Metairie, La. (Wvue) – The crews were employed by the parade stands outside the shopping center on the lake on the veterans Highway on Wednesday (March 5).

Night owls had no chance of packing the seats in this Mardi grass after the officials of the community of Jefferson had postponed all fats on Tuesdays due to the possibility of a storm.

But the municipality announced on Wednesday that the leading carnival parade, the Krewe von Argus, will roll on a new date and a new route. On March 16, Argus will roll down the Metairie Road to St. Patrick's Day shortly before the annual parade.

“This may be the biggest parade that Jefferson Parish has ever held,” said the captain/president of St. Patrick Parade Committee, Kelly Carrigan. “If you leave behind with empty hands, it is your fault, because there will be a lot for everyone.”

The Argus-St. Patrick Combo will have about 150 rolling units, including floats, trucks, brass bands, dance troops and much more.

And the Krewes take the opportunity to combine their traditions, such as the invitation from Argus king rider to the ancient Irish festival in Gennaros Bar to start the big weekend.

“Like the meetings of Momus and Comus or Rex and Zulu, we want the kings of Argus, which the Committee of the Parade Parade parade in Jefferson triggers, and me as a big marshal,” said Grand Marshal Brian Herbert von St. Patrick.

Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng says she is enthusiastic about the big day, with the security plans still being completed.

“The Sheriff's office works with us where the staging area will be. These conversations are now happening, ”she said.

The Doubleheader will be a massive attraction for paradise. And companies in Old Metairie hope to see strong economic effects.

Steven Bell has already prepared Sals Snoballs on the Metairie Road for the Big St. Patrick quantity and now has to concentrate on larger crowds for the day.

“More ice cream, more syrup for the day,” said Bell. “St. Patrick's Day is huge. It brings as many people as veterans at the Mardi Gras Day. … (I) hope that Bruce Katz gives us nice weather. “
