One of the biggest questions that Arizona Diamondbacks have for the 2025 season is whoever has the start in midfield. The position seems to be measured by performance and Matchup -based research.

Starting with Jake McCarthy, who was one of the most explosive rackets in Arizona in 2024 (.285/.349/.400). He is one of the fastest boys on the base path and looks like he is accelerating Mavericks. He is definitely a fan favorite, a club house type and, in my opinion, the favorite that begins the opening day in midfield for the diamondbacks.

Alek Thomas, another fan favorite after his memorable moments during her playoff run 2023, had a downturn year the following season. Whether it was injuries or only on the offensive, Thomas definitely had a season that he would like to get behind. Thomas has a few list signs that McCarthy does not do because he is one of the best defensive field players in the leagues. It seemed to be doomed from the start after he suffered a thigh injury in the first week of the season that seemed to be derailed directly from the bat. Thomas has to be sure that this season is not a doom. But a boom! (I'm sorry, I had to.)

Something about this DBacks Outfield feels special, it is nice to have options. Both fan favorites and of course Torey Lovullo want to calculate that they are both successful, and he should be able to move them both.

Perhaps it is the smell of the freshly cut grass, or the smell of popcorn and hot dogs could be the sounds of the cracking of the racket.
