Arrest in fatal shootings in the Daytona Beach 'Problem House', says the police

Daytona Beach, Fla. – The Daytona Beach police arrested at a deadly shootout, which led to a major police reaction on Tuesday.

Around 4 a.m., the police reacted to reports on a break -in and a person who was shot on Butler Boulevard. On arrival, officials found two injured victims, according to a press release.

According to the police, a preliminary investigation showed that there were several people in the residence when a knock on the door could be heard. Witnesses then watched two masked men with firearms who pressed themselves inwards, according to the release. There was an argument in which a victim was pistol and another shot, according to the publication. The suspects then fled the scene, said the police.

On Wednesday, the police announced that John Fitzgerald Oliphant III, 20, was arrested due to the first degree murder and burglary with a battery in connection with the case.

The investigators also found that the suspects and victims were previously familiar with drug -related activities.

Jakari Young, chief of police at Daytona Beach, told News 6 that the shootout took place in a “problem house” that was a source of complaints from neighbors.

The police believe that the shootout was an isolated incident and that the community does not give a continued threat.
