Arson examinations after the fire of the Dickson County Church

Dickson County, Tenn. (WSMV) – A parish is looking for answers, since an arson examination is underway in Dickson County.

The black ashes were stacked in the shadow of the intersection outside the friendship baptist church. It is only a small part of the damage of a fire that the officials said of being deliberately.

When firefighters were called to church around 1:45 on Saturday morning, they said two benches were pushed in front of the doors. The benches were covered by the church of the church and set on fire.

The benches and the mat are now charred beyond recognition, and only the metal frame will sit in front of the church.

The wood and plastic on the roof were also melted by the fire, but most of the church was saved. Firefighters said that a good Samaritan who drove on the Highway 70 saw the flames and stopped to pull out the benches under the roof.

Community members and Pastor John Dudley said WSMV that they were shocked that someone would address the church. Dudley is busy working with his insurance company to start repairs.

Tennessee City officials who work with the TBI and other agencies to examine the arson by checking security videos from the church.

For everyone with information that leads to an arrest, a reward of 5,000 US dollars is offered. People who drove between midnight and 2 a.m. in the area are asked to call the Tennessee Brand hotline at 1-800-762-3017.
