A's come back against San Diego Padres and continue the Hot Spring Start

On Thursday, the A revealed its biggest addition to the roster in this low season when Luis Severino wore the San Diego Padres for the first time with the hill with green and gold. The Sacramento-bound athletics signed the right-hander three years and $ 67 million, a franchise record.

He had a flaw in his debut, a Solo -Homerun to the Farmhand -Brooks of the former A's, but was otherwise great. He went the Standard -Zwei Innings for his first start and only allowed one goal and a run while he was struck.

Mark Kotsay, manager of A, spoke to reporters after the game about Severino's performance: “If you want to give up Homer, we give you up in spring training. But he did exactly what was expected. He throws this high heating at the top of the zone. It is only good that he felt good and was confident when he came out of the hill.”

As far as Brooks are concerned, he may not be known to the fans of A, but he is the answer to a part of a trivia question in the Bay Area: The A's and San Francisco Giants had no trading with a player from a player since the early nineties.

Obviously the first in Brooks to act against Sean newcomb after the deadline in 2023. The reason for this was that both players were in the little leagues. Newcomb had some successes with the A's in 2023, but the knee operations outside of his knees in the first few months of 2024 only thought he was 10 innerings for the A.

As for the game on Thursday, A's San Diego defeated 6: 4, with the green and the gold late in the game against Tom Cosgrove.

The big blow in the eighth was a Darell Hernaiz triple with the juice bases that brought three home and brought him from a 3: 3 game to a 6: 3 lead.

Another big addition to the A's, José Leclerc, followed Severino from the Bullpen and gave up a few runs in his work. In the third he allowed a leadoff -Homerun to Forrest Wall and then gave up the next dough, Niko Goodrum. He marked and went to third place with a Luis Arraez and then hit a single from Tyler Wade (another former A).

Tyler Ferguson worked a clean inning with a strikeout, and Brady Basso continued his solid start to spring with 2.1 goalless innings, where a walk to Brooks was his only flaw. He also struck a few.

Basso has had two trips to San Diego so far and had a total of 4.1 Innerings, zero hits, a walk and four strikeouts. Not a bad start. He gave his MLB debut at the end of 2024 and held an ERA of 4.03 in seven appearances (four starts) and 22.1 Innerings.

“He beats the zone,” said Kotsay about Basso. “The Breaking Ball is currently a good place for him. It is fun to see these young boys who come here in the big leagues a little in spring training and really look the role.”

He may not necessarily be in the mixture for the rotation, but he could serve as a long man from the bullpen if he continues to take care. The A's were able to use another left -hander down there, with only TJ McFarland was currently installed in one role. The club can extend it and be a deep option when/when injuries occur.

The A's are now 4: 1 this spring, together with a draw against the Kansas City Royals at the beginning of this week. The only team that defeated the A's are the Padres who won the first Matchup 10: 3. With the victory, the 4: 1 record of the A is now in third place in the Cactus League, behind the undefeated Chicago Cubs and the 6: 1 Colorado Rockies. Her only defeat came from the A's.
