Aston Villa against Everton – BBC Sport

Everton achieved a clinical performance in front of the goal to defeat Aston Villa 2-0 and to condemn her hosts for a fourth defeat in a row.

Everton was exceeded for a large part of the first 45 minutes in Villa Park, with Aston Villa dominated, and both Rachel Daly and Jill Baijings tested the goalkeeper Courtney Brosnan.

However, Everton used her only chance of stealing a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute when Villa did not dissolve a corner that had penetrated into the nearby posts. Maren Mjelde came home after he had reacted to the jumping ball the fastest.

The villa suffered a blow early in the second half when goalkeeper Sabrina d'Angelo was forced with a facial injury.

Her replacement, Katelin Talbert, experienced a nightmare start with her WSL debut and spilled the ball in the way from Honoka Hayashi, who hit home up close and hit home and registered Everton's lead.

The result ends a run of seven away league games without a win for Everton and sees Brian Sorensensen's team in eighth place, 10 points in front of the divided crystal palace.

However, Aston Villa remains dangerous above the relegation zone, only four points above the palace, and is still looking for a first league victory under Natalia Arroyo, who replaced Robert de Pauw at the end of January.
