At least 59 concert goers dead, over 100 injured in the night club fire

At least 59 people died and more than 100 others were injured in a fire in a night club.

The flame broke out on Sunday, March 16, in the Pulse Club in the eastern city of Kočani in Northern Macedonia around 3:00 a.m. local time and caused the deaths and injuries, the Interior Minister PANCHE Toshkovski, which was shared by the local outlet Mia News in a press conference on Facebook.

The fire was caused by sparks from pyrotechnics that were used during a concert in the night club, where the local pop group ADN, the minister, confirmed, according to the Macedonian newspaper Vein And the Associated Press.

The injured were brought to hospitals across the country, including the capital Skopje with “severe burns”, reported the AP and the regional news agency MIA. According to the minister, some of the organizers were among the “seriously injured”.

“Anyone who has made a mistake will take responsibility. Of course, an autopsy must be carried out to identify the deceased. We died in several hospitals ” Večer.

The film material online shows the night club in flames, whereby first aiders try to extinguish the fire and recover the victims.

This incident is one of the worst for the country in recent years.

Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski announced an explanation on Instagram: “This is a difficult and very sad day for Macedonia.”

He added: “The government is fully mobilized and will do everything to deal with the consequences and to determine the causes of this tragedy.”

Marta Kos, the European Commissioner for Enlargement, wrote to X that she was “deeply sad about the tragic fire in Kočani North Macedonia, which claimed a life of too many young people. My thoughts are with the victims, their loved ones and all of North Makedonia. ”
