Athletics in women breaks three school records at New Englands

Elle Thompson broke the school record in 600.

The Middlebury Women's athletics team broke three school records on the first day of the New England Championships of Division III. Williams won the event with 142.5 points, followed by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (108 points) and Tufts (88 points). The Panthers took fifth place with 52 points.

Highlights

  • In the pentathlon, Emily Rubio the crown claimed with 3,554 points and defeated its program brand of 3,450 points, which were defined during the 2023 campaign. Rubio scored the victories in the 60-meter hurdles (9.07 seconds), the long jump (5.40 m) and shared a three-way tie in the high jump with a height of 1.66 m. Her point in total also broke the meetings of 3,545 points from 2016.
  • Elle Thompson lowered the school record in the 600th her runner-up of 1: 33.53 defeated the previous mark of 1: 34.98 by Juliet Ryan-Davis in 2013.
  • Zoe Wang Also write the record books in the pole vault and delete 3.77 meters to occupy the fourth overall. Their size improved the 3.66 -M mark that she set up during the 2024 campaign.

  • In the shot, put, Julia Tulimieri a trio of Panthers led with a throw of 11.83 m to secure the 11th place.
  • On Saturday, Bea Parr Cross the finish line in fourth place and climbed 4: 58.09 in the mile to record a personal best.
  • During the 800 Atwood with a personal record time of 2: 15.17 the sixth place.
  • Another top 5 performance came from Audrey Maclean In the 3,000. The panther was the fifth runner across the board, which occurred at 9: 51.41, which was a personal best.

Middlebury will send selected competitors back to Massachusetts this coming weekend, with some Panthers performing at the Open New England Championships in Reggie Lewis Center and others at the Tufts University qualifying.
