Attempted murder of a examined prison officer of Salina Valley State

Soledad, Ca – Officials of the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation examined the alleged murder of a peace officer who took place on March 18, 2025 in Salinas Valley State Prison (SVSP).

At 8:48 a.m., the detained person Anthony G. Ramirez allegedly called up an improvised weapon from his covenant and tried to attack a custody personnel on a day's space. The staff immediately replied, Ramirez disarmed and put him in handcuffs without incidents.

Medical reviews were carried out on both the officer and Ramirez, whereby no serious injuries were found.

Ramirez was deployed to restricted living space until an investigation by the SVSP investigative services unit and the district prosecutor of Monterey County due to a possible persecution of crimes.

Peer support and employee support program services are offered to employees. The California Correctional Peace Officers Association was notified.

The 43-year-old Ramirez was recently returned from the probation on May 16, 2008 with a new term from Los Angeles County. He was condemned to live with the possibility of a probation of a second degree murder, with improvements for the use of a firearm and the deliberate discharge of firearms that cause large bodily harm / deaths.

SVSP was opened in 1996 and is home to more than 2,400 minimum, medium, maximum and high security. SVSP offers academic classes and professional programs and employs around 1,800 people.
