Auburn Baseball Upsets No. 9 Oregon State 8-7 At Globe Life Field In Texas

Through two games at the 2025 Amegy Bank College Baseball Series – Weekend 3 in Arlington, Texas, Auburn has been relentless, picking up wins against Ohio State and Oregon State.

The Tigers scored in five consecutive innings Saturday night at Globe Life Field to sneak past No. 9-ranked Oregon State, 8-7.

Auburn (10-1) started the event with a 13-0 blowout of Ohio State on Friday, while Oregon State (6-3) opened the weekend with a 4-3 win Friday over Baylor.

The Amegy Bank College Baseball Series again is being held at GLF, home of the world champion Texas Rangers, as part of three exciting weekends of college baseball in Texas.

An active second inning in the Auburn-Oregon State matchup saw each team plate two runs, before adding one apiece in the third.

That’s when the Auburn defense took over, holding the Beavers scoreless until allowing two runs in the eighth and two runs in the top of the ninth inning. In the contest, Auburn completed three double plays.

Freshman infielder Chris Rembert paced the Auburn offense Saturday with a 2-for-4 performance that included a two-run home run in the fifth inning and four RBIs overall. He and junior Ike Irish each had two hits in the game.

The Tigers scored eight runs on six hits, while leaving six runners on base.

Auburn sent six pitchers to the mound to face OSU, with sophomore right-hander Cam Tilly, the second hurler of the evening, picking up the win. He went 2 1/3 innings, giving up one run on one hit, while striking out four and walking one. He’s 2-0 on the season.

Sophomore right-hander Jett Johnston pitched the final 2/3 of an inning to end the Oregon State threat and collect the save.

The Beavers scored seven runs, four across the final two innings, on nine hits, while leaving six on base. The performance included three home runs and multi-hit performances from juniors Jacob Krieg and Canon Reeder. Each had a home run.

Oregon State used five pitchers in the game, with starter, freshman right-hander Dax Whitney, taking the loss. He went 3 2/3, giving up four earned runs on three hits, while striking out six and walking two. He’s now 1-2 on the year.

Prior to Saturday’s showdown, Auburn and Oregon State had only played three games against each other.

The last time their paths crossed was in the NCAA Corvallis Super Regional during the 2022 season, with Auburn’s 2-1 series win sending the Tigers to the NCAA Men’s College World Series.

Up next for Oregon State will be a battle with Ohio State on Sunday at noon Eastern. Auburn will face Baylor on Sunday at 4 p.m. EST.

The schedule for college baseball’s three-week run in Arlington has included the Shriners Children’s College Showdown (Feb. 14-16), Amegy Bank College Baseball Series presented by Kubota Weekend 2 (Feb. 21-23) and Amegy Bank College Baseball Series presented by Kubota Weekend 3 (Feb. 28-March 2).

There also are a handful of midweek games on the schedule for Feb. 18, Feb. 19, Feb. 26 and March 5.

About Oregon State Baseball

Oregon State opened the 2025 season with five consecutive wins, scoring more than 15 runs in two of those victories.

Unfortunately for OSU, the run of fortune ended and was followed by back-to-back losses to close out the Round Rock Classic in Round Rock, Texas.

After the skid, the Beavers (5-2) dropped two spots in the D1Baseball Top 25 this week from No. 7 to No. 9.

They’ll look to turn things around this week in Arlington in games against Baylor, Auburn and Ohio State.

Last year, Oregon State had a great season, finishing 45-16, which included a 19-10 mark in the Pac-12. The Beavers finished second behind departing Arizona in the conference standings.

Oregon State made a memorable run through the 2024 NCAA Division I Baseball Championship, eventually seeing the season come to an end at the hands of Kentucky at the NCAA Lexington Super Regional.

Along the way, Oregon State participated in the early-season Kubota College Baseball Series, posting a 2-1 record at Globe Life Field.

About Auburn Baseball

Auburn’s 2025 campaign started with a nine-game homestand over 12 days, with the team’s final warm-up before heading to Texas being a game against Samford on Tuesday.

Through the first eight games of the stretch, Auburn posted a 7-1 record, including an active run of six consecutive wins heading into the Samford game.

The Tigers are coming off a 27-26 season that included an 8-22 mark in the uber-tough SEC. They finished last in the SEC West, three wins behind Ole Miss, and did not advance to the postseason.

The Tigers last competed at Globe Life Field in 2022, posting a 2-1 record during the State Farm College Baseball Showdown.
