Augusta's quarter Haynes station has a close call with brushfire

Augusta, Ga. (WRDW/dares) – A lunch brush fire brought the neighbors at the Haynes Station Community in West Augusta.

The fire broke out on Friday around 11:20 a.m. in an undeveloped area between the subdivision and the Gordon Highway.

Flames jumped to the area in the forests, which are an electric substation next to houses on the Goodale Drive in the neighborhood of Fort Eisenhower on the highway.

A resident saw a woman running out of her house who screamed when the forest burned right behind her house.

The neighbors hurried home when they learned from the fire, and those who were already at home went outside to watch the fire fighting efforts and to discuss the close call between the fire and the houses that are only about 3 years old.
